Wood Blinds and Faux Wood Blinds.

They materials and hardware come from well known companies such as Timber Blinds, Levelor, Royal Windows ,Hunter Douglas , Graber, Prestige and Bali. The color choices range from many shades of white 20+ stained wood tones.
Types of Window Blinds to Consider
Mini blinds were very popular in homes about 10 years ago and are still used extensively in commercial building . They have unlimited color choice. Most Mini blinds come in several slat widths, 1/2″, 1″, 2″ with the slats are made from several different gauges of aluminum but some of the Shelf Stock mini blinds use plastic slats for further lower the cost. To choose the better quality, you need to pick the blinds with high gauge and thick slat.

Faux Wood “PVC” Blinds
PVC blinds have really become popular over the past 15 years. This blinds are made of a solid or foamed poly vinyl chloride plastic. Generally,the slat widths are 2″, 2 1/2″, and sometimes 3″. The slat’s surface can be embossed or smooth by a wood grain. They used to only have one color, white, but now there are available in wood tone colors. Faux Wood Blinds are very durable, UV resistant, waterproof and easy to clean. The only flaw to Faux Blinds is the weight of the slats because they are heavier than composite slats or wood slats, so for large windows, you can have little difficult to raise the slats.
Composite blinds are made from a combination of wood, glues and plastics. They are a new material that were used for the window covering. Generally, the slat widths are 2″, 2 1/2″, and sometimes 3″. The composite blinds have an elliptical slats or flat slats and the surface is a smooth poly-coating or a solid composite material. They are very durable, water resistant, UV resistant and easy to clean. They are also have a limited color selection like white, dew wood tone and stain colors. The price of composite blinds are the low mid range. Composite blinds slats are lighter than PVC blinds but heavier than wood and therefore they are a good choice for large windows covering.
Both value & premium wood blinds are made from real woods. The slats are made from assorted oriental hardwoods. As for the premium wood blind slats are made from American Basswood, a unique cross grained wood which has rich detail and resists warping. The blind slat’s surface is either painted or stained. The wood blinds have huge color selection with several different whites and the most popular hardwood stain colors. But wood blinds are the most expensive blinds in this category. All wood slats can warp and may color fade over long periods of time and the slats are the lightest material. They work well for large windows.
